To put Some Numbers on the MatterThe cost of each class: $350. Each ten-week class consists of nine study packets covering nine selected readings in philosophy and one final exam or a final paper. A number of options exist on how to structure the final task, from a take home exam, to a timed exam, the writing of a paper from a list of subjects to the writing of a paper on a topic of your choice. The cost of the class is $350.00 but this does not include the costs of books as the books for the classes differ, the class on Plato’s Republic, for instance, requires only one book, Plato’s Republic and is quite inexpensive. The introduction to philosophy and ethics requires five books to try and cover a much larger period of time and hence is more expensive in terms of texts. The student can cancel or withdraw from study at any time with a refund of the unspent balance in terms of the time spent in the class. The money for the books cannot be refunded as they will purchased from a third party but it is possible to re-sell on the books in the used books market but usually for a loss.
